Nonprofit Management Bootcamp
Boost your knowledge and toolkit for managing a nonprofit.
We'll cover working with boards, fund development, financial management, strategic thinking and operations. 2-Minute Answer Guide for Nonprofits book is included. Designed for those newer to or considering a nonprofit management role, this hands-on crash course will give you an overview of the key competencies of a nonprofit manager.
We’ll cover the following five core nonprofit operations topics.
- Strategic Planning – this is all about setting a strong foundation. We’ll discuss:
- Mission and Visioning
- Internal and external analysis
- Participatory planning
- Designing realistic action plans
- Boards and Governance – nonprofits are unique because we have boards that represent the community and are stewards of our cause. We’ll cover the top 10 board roles and responsibilities. These range from:
- Strategic Direction
- Mission and program oversight
- Financial oversight
- Ensuring good public standing of the nonprofit
- Hiring and evaluating the CEO
- Fund Development – this will include an overview of what the funding landscape currently looks like, organizational readiness for fundraising, and how to make an ask when it comes to approaching potential funders.
- Program Planning – similar to strategic planning, programs must be designed intentionally to help further the organization’s mission. The discussion will include where to start, who should be involved, designing your program, and defining impact.
- Financial, Legal, HR – we will discuss the fundamental financial, legal, and HR compliance issues that managers face.
