SUMMARY:IE RESOURCE NETWORK CONVENING - HIGH DESERT
DESCRIPTION:Practical Tips & Tools: Connect IE and How Local Nonprofits Can Become Involved\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by: Connect IE\n\nYou can do your part to improve the health of your community. When you link people to social services and resources they need\, their health and quality of life improve. The Connect IE website makes it easy to find community resources in the Inland Empire. Local organizations can list their resources and benefit from features offered through Connect IE such as activity reports\, site analytics and much more. Come and learn what Connect IE can do for your organization.\n\n \n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\n\nStarlette L. Turner\n\nConnect IE Outreach Lead\n\n\n\n\n\nStarlette Turner joined Inland Empire United Way in December 2014 as a 2-1-1 Data and Research Specialist. In January 2019 she assumed the role of Connect IE Outreach Lead. She demonstrated her talent for assisting others by building and maintaining a strong resource database to connect individuals and families to needed community resources. She continues to strive to inspire and educate community-based organizations on the importance of verifying their programs on the 2-1-1 database and the Connect IE website platform to empower communities by connecting to resources that create positive outcomes in the life of the participants.\n\n\n\nStarlette has over 15 years of experience in successful evidence based community engagement. She garnered various achievement awards from several collaborative partners for her selfless commitment to community outreach pursuits. Starlette is a "Change Agent" who continues to be passionate about making a significant and impactful change in our Inland Empire communities through her efforts of placing people in touch with critical resources in their community.\n\nStarlette's future goal is to complete her degree in Sociology.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nNorma Flores\n\nConnect IE Outreach Coordinator\n\n\n\n\n\nNorma Flores works at Inland Empire United Way\, under 211 San Bernardino County. She assumed the role as the Connect IE Outreach Coordinator in April 2019. Norma's responsibilities include conducting informational presentations\, collaborating on community outreach events and participating in various industry meetings in order to introduce projects and educate community organizations about the ease of navigating the Connect IE platform while highlighting the ways in which to access valuable resources. \n\nHer first experience at a nonprofit was working on owner occupied home repair programs offered to low income homeowners\, specifically seniors and Hispanic populations. While working for this nonprofit she found that she enjoyed helping people but disliked having to turn away individuals who did not qualify for home repair assistance. Had she known about 211 and Connect IE at that time she would have been able to offer additional resources to her clients and assisted them in finding solutions to their most prevalent needs\, concerns or issues. \n\nNorma earned a Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona. Working with the community and witnessing the need for more representation and advocacy has urged her to pursue a Masters in Community and Economic Development. She will be continuing her studies in the fall semester and her future goal is to be able to develop new\, creative and innovative programs that will have a positive impact on underserved populations as well as\, help to improve their quality of life.\n\n\n\n\n\nAcademyGO Member Spotlight: C. J. Page\, Director\, Community Health Action Network\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCalling Members: If you would like the opportunity to highlight your organization at a future meeting contact Debbie A. Cannon at Debbie@AcademyGO.com to check availability.
